Randy shannon promoted to florida gators defensive coordinator

The Florida Gators have promoted co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Randy Shannon to defensive coordinator.

Shannon offered because the Gators’ interim defensive coordinator for that Outback Bowl after Geoff Collins left for that mind coaching position at Temple.

“Coach Shannon is a big a part of our success during the last 2 yrs. It’s been really awesome to look at him handle his business,” Jim McElwain stated inside a statement. “He really connects with this players and they’ve lots of respect for him. Greater than as being a great coach, he’s a great mentor and teacher to those youthful men and that’s our finest calculating sticks as coaches.”

This is Shannon’s third stint like a defensive coordinator. He first held the title within the National football league using the Miami Dolphins (1998-99). He came back to his alma mater, Miami, where he offered as defensive coordinator from 2001-06.

“I understand the chance Coach Mac has provided me is the defensive coordinator in the College of Florida,” Shannon stated inside a release. “We will work together once we possess the past 2 yrs to construct an agenda so our players are capable of be effective in football as well as in existence.”
